Katalyst Light
Iron, manganese and H2S removal.
It took 10 years to manufacture the catalyst and to develop
Katalyst Light, formally known as Katalox Light.
Katalyst light is a manganese dioxide based Catalyst media that can split water efficiently into Hydrogen (H*) and Hydroxide (OH-) at pH from 5.6 to 10.5.
. Hydroxide ions are used for the precipitation of heavy metals up to 99.99%. Which represents the highest percentage of metal removal than any media in water treatment.
Proprietary Catalvst turns cations into stable insoluble or so in lid-state particles and then removes them with backwash.
The process cannot be compared with other technologies. Other flocculants like Pyrolox, Filox or Greensand Plus are antiquated.
Proprietary Catalvst turns cations into stable insoluble or solid-state particles and then removed with backwash.
Katalyst Light outperforms competing products like Greensand Plus and Filter-OX in terms of contaminant removal, certification, surface area, and overall operational efficiency. It is well-suited for a variety of water treatment applications including drinking water, irrigation, industrial processes, and wastewater treatment. Numerous case studies demonstrate its effectiveness in real-world installations.
1. Katalyst Light is a high-performance filtration media that can effectively remove iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, and other contaminants from water through mechanical filtration, catalytic precipitation, and adsorption.
2. Katalyst Light has several advanced features, including high surface area, high manganese dioxide coating, and lightweight design, making it superior to other similar products in the market.
3. Katalyst Light is certified to meet ANSI/NSF 61 standard for drinking water applications and has been successfully installed in various residential, commercial, and municipal water treatment systems worldwide.
Katalyst Light is a high-performance filtration media that can remove iron, manganese, hydrogen sulfide, and other contaminants from water. Some key points:
- It contains 10% manganese dioxide coating on a zeolite base, which gives it strong catalytic and adsorption properties.
- It can filter particles down to 3 microns and remove high levels of iron (up to 100 mg/L) and manganese (up to 20 mg/L).
- It is certified to NSF/ANSI standards for drinking water applications.
- It is lightweight and requires less backwash water compared to other similar media.
It outperforms other media like Greensand Plus and Filter-OX in terms of contaminant removal, certification, and operational characteristics.
The pH of the water has a very strong effect on adsorption efficiency. As pH changes, the charge associated with the arsenic anion also changes.
The Arsenic anion carries a single negative charge at or below pH 7, but it loses a proton at higher pH, resulting in a doubly charged anion. The singly charged anion is adsorbed more effectively from solution than the doubly charged species.
In a similar manner, the charge state on the surface of the adsorbent varies with pH also. Titanium oxide has a positive surface charge below a pH of 5, and a negative surface charge at higher pH. Likewise, an iron oxide adsorbent has a positive charge below a pH of about 7, and a negative charge at higher pH.
This variation in adsorbent surface charge can explain why the adsorption capacity for arsenic is so sensitive to pH changes in the common drinking water range of 6.5to 8.5.
It is easy to see how both effects — the doubly charged arsenic anion and the negative surface charge of the adsorbents — could work together to dramatically reduce efficiency at higher pH.
Using this rationale, you might expect titanium oxide to be a less effective adsorbent at normal drinking water pH conditions, since it is negatively charged at an even lower pH.
However, the opposite is true. Titanium oxide has a higher adsorption efficiency for arsenic in neutral pH water than iron oxides do. At higher pH, all adsorptive media lose efficiency.
It is much easier to remove Arsenic in lower PH water.
